Lenovo's newest notebook- U450p. I think I am the very first one to receive this slim laptop this August of 2009. Upon arrival, I opened it only to be dejected on how ugly it looks. Made of hard black plastic, webbed and not a brush aluminum like what the competition offers. No worry, for I will have a great performing and efficient/long lasting CULV laptop. After running vista and accepting it's acceptance agreement , I came across its slow to recognize face verification. I regret having even activated it. It sure is buggy. After a couple of days toying and cleaning this U450p, I am returning it. Why? Performance was so underpar. Like a DECADE OLD LAPTOP. Way slow compared to my daughter's Acer Aspire's timeline 4810. Bad softwares and drivers that it often freezes. I don't know if part of the problem is because of Vista 64 bit. And the worst part is this--- it uses a 6 cell 5300 MaH battery(as oppossed to a 6 cell 5800 Mah Acer Timeline)which produces a not so great 3. 5 hrs of runtime in the balanced power scheme. So what's the point of getting an energy efficient CULV laptop if it would only run for under 4 hrs. BTW, on Lenovo's website they market the U450p as up to 6 hrs of running time. There is no freaking way that this laptop even reach 5 hrs under normal operation. I complained this to Lenovo's clueless customer service and bad technical service dept. and all they could offer was change the batteries. I doubt it is. Everything is new and they don't know anything. I am returning it as soon as possible and Lenovo is charging me 15 percent stacking and slacking fee, whatever it is. When I get a part of my hard earned money back, I'll be happy and bye bye Lenovo forever.
